Grand Master Ilchi Lee created Dahn Yoga to help students achieve personal peace, the foundation of his goal for world peace. Dr. Lee hopes to create millions of "Earth Humans" in just a few years to facilitate world peace. In addition to the classes at over 600 centers in countries around the world, Dahn Yoga offers many workshops and seminars that facilitate students' growth to create healthy bodies, spirits, minds, and communities to lead to a peaceful world.
Dr. Lee has created many means within Dahn Yoga to achieve his goals. In addition to the yoga classes, the annual Healing Chakra workshops and the once-in-a-lifetime Shim-Sung workshop help raise a student's consciousness to the level of peace. In 2004, Dr. Lee also created the Young Earth Humans Alliance which hosts an annual conference attended by about 200 young Dahn Yoga students from around the world. In the 4-day conferences, the students explore ways to become leaders of peace in their communities.

Note: In Korea, Dahn Yoga is called Dahn Hak
-- "the study of energy".
The site points out:
In 1985, Mr. Lee founded modern Dahnhak for the realization of the old Korean philosophy Hongik Ingan Ewah Saegae (Widely Benefit All Humanity, Rightfully Harmonize All World). While developing scientific Dahnhak for the public, he recognized the incredible impact that the brain has on the human experience, and then developed brain education using brain respiration which optimizes the brain’s functions through integrated exercises.
Mr. Ilchi Seung Heun Lee took office as 2nd president of International Graduate University for Peace on March 1, 2005. An eminent scholar in Korean traditional philosophy and brain education, noted writer and admired peace activist, Mr. Lee is the founder of International Graduate University for Peace, the 1st peace education institution in Republic of Korea, and in the past decade participated in a series of worldwide peace activities, most recently devoting himself to development of Peaceology, the study of peace.
Mr. Lee in 2000 was designated as one of the fifty pre-eminent spiritual leaders of the world at the Millennium World Peace Summit of Religious and Spiritual Leaders. Having delivered "Prayer of Peace" at the Summit, he was introduced as a peace activist in the world. At that event, he also suggested establishing a 'Peace Park' in the Demilitarized Zone between South and North Korea.

Here is an excerpt:
I offer this prayer of peace
To declare a revolution of the human spirit.
I wish to announce that
It is now time
For all of us to spiritually awaken
To enlightenment.
I declare that we must all become Earth-Humans
Of the Earth
Not of any religion, nation or race
But of this earth, for this earth and by this earth
To create lasting peace
On earth.

Note: The Heavenly Code is shown on page 80.

Dr. Lee says, "We can bring peace to the world only by concrete and sustained effort to heal body, mind, and spirit for ourselves, our neighbors, our communities, and for the whole of humanity. My intention is to provide philosophical underpinnings, actual plans for action, and a detailed vision for achieving lasting and equitable peace on Earth." He also points out, "Perhaps it is we, ourselves, who must ultimately become the actors in the drama of the creation of peace on earth."
Ilchi Lee's mission is to inspire 100 million Earth Humans over 10 years to join him in an enlightenment revolution that will transform governments, end wars, and lift humanity to a higher spiritual plane. Dr. Lee wrote in his book Healing Society, "...when enough New Humans join together in a worldwide spiritual-cultural movement, we will effect the grandest revolution in the history of humankind, a revolution that will usher in a new era of spiritualism”.
HSP
Dahn Yoga students are familiar with the concept of "HSP" and the HSP logo that is prominently displayed in most Dahn Yoga centers and on Dahn Yoga T-shirts. In addition, classes at the centers end with a strong affirmation of a "Healthy body, happy heart, and power (peaceful) brain!"

However, students may not always consider how the commitment to their own health helps create a healthier and more peaceful family, community, country, and world.
The Dahn Yoga "Mission Statement" makes these connections clear.

The Heavenly Code
The Heavenly Code (Chun Bu Kyung) is prominently displayed in most Dahn Yoga centers.
It embodies the ancient Korean philosophy in which Dahn Yoga is based.

The Heavenly Code: Power of the Chun Bu Kyung

The Heavenly Code Article
See the Heavenly Code page for an article by Grand Master Lee on the Heavenly Code .

An excerpt of the article is copied here:
Kukhak is a study of indigenous philosophy of the Korean people.... The three core elements in the study of Kukhak include the basic philosophy Hongik Ingan, the old scripture of the Koreans Chun Bu Kyung, and Dahngun who founded the first Korean State and brought the principle of Hongik to the Korean people.
Chun Bu Kyung basically teaches three truths about the cosmos. First, everything begins with the One, and returns to the One, which has no beginning or end. Second, the One expresses itself as Heaven, Earth, and Human, all existing within the Human Being. Third, the Oneness of all must naturally express itself in actions that benefit all. The quintessence of Chun Bu Kyung lies in the phrase, “In Joong Chun Ji Il,” which signifies that the heaven, earth, and human are all connected in the Oneness. This Oneness is defined as a beginning without a beginning and end without an end, a point out of which all came from and will go back to..
The philosophy of Hongik Ingan Ewha Saegae, which literally means “widely benefit all humanity, rightfully harmonize all world,” came out of the old scripture Chun Bu Kyung. The principle from Chun Bu Kyung is taken shape as a practical philosophy Hongik Ingan Ewha Saegae that specifies “Harmony” and “Coexistence” of all humanity. The Dahngun that is a title of the king of the ancient Korea [who] interpreted Chun Bu Kyung into the practical philosophy of Hongik Ingan Ewha Saegae, designating it as the philosophical, social, educational and political foundation of the kingdom.
Culture of Sundo is the comprehensive spiritual culture that includes these three core elements of Kukhak. It embraces an individual and society as one, which is the ideal state of perfection, and comprises Hongik Ingan, which means “Love for the Humanity,” as a view on human nature and Ewha Saegae, which is “Love for the Earth,” as world view in it. It contains all of the factors to satisfy the conditions of the sustainable world peace. The concept of peace in Sundo starts from individual recognition as a peaceful being and self confidence. Peace or happiness of the individual also requires physical and mental health. Sundo helps people reach the individual stage of peace through Jung-Choong Ki-Jang Shin-Myung, which refers to health, happiness (smile), and peace, [HSP] respectively.
We are living in a world that strongly requires harmony and coexistence among individuals, groups, races, or nations...That’s why we need the recovery of Sundo. Only healthy, happy and confident individuals can draw a bigger, clear, positive blueprint for the humanity and the earth. Philosophy of Hongik Ingan Ewah Saegae and teachings from Chun Bu Kyung have every wisdom and bright information needed for the achievement of peace in an individual, family, society and world....Through the recovery of Sundo, we could devote to build a peaceful culture of ‘widely benefit all humanity, rightfully harmonize all world’ in the world.
Shim Sung, Healing Chakra, and Peace
Dahn Yoga offers two important workshops that facilitate the achievement of personal peace, the foundation of world peace. The Healing Chakra workshop is given each year. Shim Sung, is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. It's goal is to open the heart, the fourth chakra.

The article in Body & Brain, the Dahn Yoga magazine, points out the connection between the Shim Sung training and peace. http://www.bodynbrain.com/02_articles/article_print.asp?seqNo=55&topic=

It begins:
If the many workshop programs available to beginning Dahn members, Shim-sung is often the most intense. Shim-sung is a Korean term that translates as “heart opening.” It is commonly called the “Self Discovery” program because it is designed to help participants find their “True Self,” the peaceful, loving individual that exists at the core of their being. Often our knowledge of our True Self is simply through words and intellect. If we were asked to express our True Self, we would find that it cannot be described in words. Through Shim-sung, one can deeply know the True Self through feeling and experience, rather than knowledge. Shim-sung touches every part of our being, even beyond our five senses. After Shim-sung, most people feel a deep peace and joy within themselves.
During the Shim Sung training, students are introduced to Dr. David R. Hawkins' Map of Consciousness which he describes as "a practical map of the energy fields of consciousness". It assigns numbers to levels of consciousness from zero at the lowest to 1000 at the highest and lists the qualities associated with each level. When a student's heart is opened during Shim Sung, his/her consciousness begins to rise above 200 on the Map of Consciousness. Dr. Hawkins describes this as the transition point between negative and positive energy. At the 600 level, the second from the highest, a person reaches peace. Notice how the colors of the Map of Consciousness correspond to the colors of the chakra system which is explored in Dahn Yoga's Healing Chakra workshop each year.

The Map of Consciousness is discussed in Dr. Hawkins' book Power vs. Force. Also see Dr. Lee's Healing Chakra book. Both are available at most Dahn Yoga centers. On page XXI, Healing Chakra describes the characteristics of the 6th chakra (which corresponds to 600 on the Map of Consciousness) as "Enlightenment of the soul, intuition and insight, peace of mind and heart". The book shows the connection between the Heavenly Code and the chakra system. It says on page 13: "The Heavenly Code describes life as a journey for completion of the soul....[which] coincides with the activation of the seven Chakras."

Young Earth Humans Alliance (YEHA)
In 2004, Dr. Ilchi Lee created the Young Earth Humans Alliance (YEHA) to introduce the concept of "Earth Humans" and world peace to young Dahn Yoga members. The annual YEHA Conference brings together about 200 students from around the world for 4 days of training in becoming leaders of peace. Click here to learn more about the annual YEHA conferences.
The Peace in the Brain audio CD contains the keynote lecture by Dr. Ilchi Lee at 2004 YEHA Conference. The CD is available at most Dahn Yoga centers. University of Brain Education

Dr. Lee explains the purpose of his University of Brain Education at: http://eng.peace.ac.kr/President/president_greetings_index.asp.
An excerpt is copied below.

Peace is the primary and irrevocable obligation and the fundamental objective of humanity. Living in a world with a multitude of intractable conflicts threatening peace, humanity as a whole needs to embrace a new era of peace, harmonious coexistence, integrity, and solidarity. Peace is also a matter of the utmost importance for the Korean who constantly faces a series of conflict in the Korean peninsula.
University of Brain Education (UBE) is the first graduate level institution for peace studies in South Korea. It is a center of education and research devoted to developing peaceology that applies philosophy of <Hong-Ik-In-Gan E-Wha-Sae-Gae> to the contemporary theories on peace as well as training highly educated leaders for world peace and progress. People create and write history. Most of all we change history. I believe these leaders educated in <Hongik Ingan Ewha Saegae> would be the cornerstone of the upcoming days of spiritual civilization.
It is critical to build up a new kind of peaceology that meets the need and expectation for the global village and to bring up leaders for world peace in <Hong-Ik-In-Gan E-Wha-Sae-Gae>. For that end, University of Brain Education presents graduate programs in Peace Studies, Danhak Studies, and Brain Respiration Education. Each department offers the best teaching faculties with knowledge and experience at the Master’s and Doctor's level.
